Passivation is a finishing process that enhances the corrosion resistance of stainless-steel. This process is typically done in a Nitric or Citric Acid solution. By removing free iron from the surface, this process results in an inert oxide layer that improves corrosion resistant properties.
Titanium Alpha Case Removal
Titanium Alpha Cases are the hard brittle surfaces of titanium forgings exposed to heat or oxygen. These alpha cases can develop micro-fractures that will reduce the metals performance and longevity. Acid Pickling is used to remove this layer and improve the performance of the material.
Electropolish
Electropolishing is an electrochemical process that removes material from the surface, reducing surface roughness by flattening out micro-peaks & valleys in the surface of the metal. This results in a superb visual appearance, and enhanced corrosion resistance. This is often followed up with a passivation process to further increase the corrosion resistance.
Pre-Penetrant Etch
Pre-Penetrant etching is the process of of removing foreign material or blemishes from the surface of a material to prepare it for Fluorescent Penetrant Inspection. This is achieved by Acid Pickling of the material.
Chemical Cleaning of Aluminum
Chemical Cleaning of Aluminum alloys removes foreign contaminants and surface defects to provide a uniform surface.
Pickling
Pickling removes free iron from the surface of stainless steel. This is performed prior to the passivation process to remove oxide scale or heat treat tint.
